House Removals
Whether you’re moving across town, or to a different town, you don’t want just anyone moving your things. You want a house removals company that knows how to pack things without breakage, and can get the job done as quickly as possible. So, how do you find a man and van team that you can trust to take good care of your household items?
First of all, you need to do a little research. Once you’ve narrowed your choices down to about 3 or 4 different companies, think of all the things you’ll want to know about them. For example, do they offer non-binding estimates? Or better yet, do they have any references you might be able to talk to? If they are a reputable company, they’ll be more than happy to give you the names of past clients.
Another thing you’ll want to think about is whether or not you’ll be doing the packing yourself. Many house removals companies will be able to do the packing for you, or at least help with some of it. One thing to remember though, is that you’ll want to keep any boxes you’ve packed under 40 lbs. Not only for the benefit of your movers, but for yourself as well.
Most of these companies are booked several weeks or months in advance. Make sure to give them plenty of notice if you’ll be needing their services. However, a few will find a way to take care of your needs should an emergency arise. You’ll probably end up paying a bit more for this, but it could be well worth it in the long run.
If you are going to have the removals company do the packing for you, make sure to have some extra boxes on hand. Plus, if you have any valuables or unmentionables you’d rather not have others handling, you’ll want to pack these yourself. These can also be moved in your own vehicle, so you won’t have to worry about them being damaged or lost. This will protect your movers, and keep your mind at ease.
If you’re moving out of your parents home, or moving into a house of your own, make sure your movers know what stays and what goes. You don’t want to have them accidentally move something that wasn’t supposed to be taken. Also, mark all your boxes in bright lettering and/or with pictures. This will help the house removals company know which room to put the boxes once they’ve reached their destination. It will also help you with the unpacking process.
If you’re happy with the man and van company you’ve chosen, offer to be a future reference for them. Not only will they be more apt to work harder to make you happy, but they’ll be more careful with your things. Remember that the house removals team you choose will have full access to your family’s belongings. And when it comes to your family, you’re going to want to make sure to keep them as safe as possible, even during a move.
